What does it mean to be a 'Character Singer'?

I would take that to mean that she should be a better actor than a singer, but still be able to sing. So pick a song that shows your acting off more than your singing. Tzeitel (from what I remember) does not have a huge range or a virtuosic voice- she's just a good singer who's a better actor.
